The Forensic Sciences Foundation (FSF) is pleased to announce that Wei Chean Chuah, BS, was awarded the 2016-17 FSF Jan S. Bashinski Criminalistics Graduate Thesis Assistance Grant for his paper, “Argon Direct Analysis in Real Time Mass Spectrometry for Forensic Analysis of Illicit Drugs.”  This year’s award consists of: $1,700; a plaque presented at the Criminalistics Section Business Meeting; complimentary meeting registration at a future AAFS meeting where his thesis has been accepted for presentation; and, up to $1,300 for travel and per diem expenses toward the future meeting attendance.  Wei Chean Chuah holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from Campbell University.  He is a Master of Science student in the Chemistry program at Western Illinois University and is currently focusing on collecting pilot data for his research project.
